July 2018 - Board of Directors Press Release

The Artist Book Foundation is pleased to announce the election of Caren McVicker of Dorset, VT and Joseph Baldassare of New York, NY to its board of directors.

Caren McVicker began her career as a software documentation and training consultant on Wall Street, working with clients such as Lipper Analytical Services (now a Reuters Company), the Associated Press, Goldman Sachs, Frito Lay, and Nabisco. With her passion for training and development, in 2011 she launched an online application designed to help entrepreneurs develop proven work habits that would advance their long-term business goals. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with a top social-media marketing firm in Boston, an opportunity that taught her the importance of a business marrying its mission with its marketing plan, refining its voice, and growing its online presence. In 2016, Caren and an associate founded PowerWeek Workshops to advise businesses and nonprofits in the Manchester, Vermont, area on how to achieve more success online in less time.

Joseph Baldassare is a New York–based music producer who has received gold and platinum sales awards in England, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Greece, and Cyprus. His Living Theater series has been on the cutting edge of contemporary world music, with his titles used on numerous music compilations throughout the world. As an event producer, his company, Arthouse18, has curated art events and photographic exhibitions featuring the work of legendary Hollywood photographer George Hurrell, as well as the world’s largest African American cinema archive. Arthouse 18’s newest exhibition, Trendsetters in Triptych, recently opened in New York, Tulsa, and Los Angeles. Thanks to his stewardship, Glassworks: The Art of Frederick Birkhill will be published in the spring of 2019 by The Artist Book Foundation.

Caren and Joseph join Leslie Pell van Breen of Arlington, VT; Timothy O’Connor and Elizabeth Santa of Bridgeport, CT; Ana Bachrach of Key Biscayne, FL; Lisa Helmholz-Adams, Manchester, VT; and Arthur J. Klonsky, Manchester, VT, on the foundation’s board.
